A cabinet maker I am not…

Despite my lack of finesse at finish carpentry and cabinet-making, I’m happy with how this project is going.  I stopped at the hardware store and got all the hinges they had, which mounted the three base cabinet doors.  They’ll have more in next week, I guess I can wait.  I cut the hole in the counter-top for the sink, and hung that in place.  It has a ledge in the trim which will be perfect for setting a cutting board on, a nice thing.

I have JUST enough of the 3/4″ Birch left to make the upper bulkhead cabinet doors, even after ruining one piece when the router somehow moved itself up about 1/8″  in the router table, making a mess of the edge of the tall lower cabinet door I was doing the round-over on.

“Quality Products”, the local RV dealer in Plainwell, has ordered the A/C vent cover and exhaust grate, and Kim ordered the A/C unit today, so all that will be here in a couple of days.  That means I’ll be able to finish up ALL the cabinets soon, and we can start varnishing, and get the exterior skin on.  There is a lot of work in building such a small trailer!

It’s getting hard to get around in the shop again, I’m walking on a layer of plywood scraps, floor tile scraps, sawdust and dropped screws, time for another major cleanup!

So much more storage than the original. And look at the counter space. Not bad for a 12 ft. trailer!! Can’t wait for my first gourmet breakfast in the Tini-Home Brian!!
