Angry ‘Bird.

The T’Bird has a whole new attitude. Aggressive and serious looking with its new, more heavily hooded ’63 Cadillac headlights. I got the left side done today, aside from a little filler on the seams, so both sides now match. I’m REALLY happy with the new look, and anxious to get the body work on them finished and a little primer on the fenders to keep the raw metal from rusting.

Tomorrow I’m going to try to get the left rear fender modified like the right one, and them it’s on to finishing up the windshield and dash. Plenty of work to do over the winter, and I’m looking forward to my “new” project!

Big improvement.

Big improvement.

I think the important thing about this project is that nothing was changed just for the sake of change, but to improve the lines of the car that were there, just “hidden”. The original top is modified just enough to look
“right” with the slight chop, the headlights look they should have to begin with, and the rear fender treatment carries the character line that mysteriously disappeared behind the rear wheel and meet the rear bumper perfectly. The changes are subtle, I’m sure many people will never notice them, unless a stock ‘Bird is parked alongside. Just the effect I want, and my skill set is expanding and improving too.

Hmmm. Looking at the photos, I don’t like the way the fender hangs out beyond the bezel. I tucked the lower section a little, but it needs more, and the top needs to be cut apart and “rolled” in to follow the bezel. Tomorrow…
